MEET THE TEAM
Our founder, Rachel, is no Ninja, nor a Martial Arts master but has a passion for helping people and wanting to make others’ lives better. With a bachelor’s degree in advertising, she has worked in the web design industry for over 20 years, 17 of them in her own business. Whilst design is one of her passions, being around people and helping others is how she really likes to spend her time.
When she is not designing or training, she loves hanging out with hubby and her two spunky boys, plus catching up with friends. She is always organizing a coffee date, movie night or dinner. Might be something she introduces into the biz so stay tuned……
Rachel felt compelled to start this business after learning so much from her husband who has been in the martial arts industry most of his life. “I was getting all of these amazing tips from him that I just had to share”. So, from this, the Women’s Self Defence Network was born. Her aim is to make it a fun, safe environment where women walk away feeling empowered, they have some new tools under their belt that are going to help towards keeping them safe.
After training in the Martial Arts industry for over 35 years, Tristan’s wealth of knowledge will blow you away. When it comes to safety and general wellbeing for your body, you couldn’t be in more capable hands. His physio thinks he should be a physio he knows so much. You always get more than what you paid for when you work with him, his wife and kids will attest to that.
Tristan is continually learning, testing and seeking out new techniques to find the most effective forms of self defence. He doesn’t believe that one particular Martial Arts covers it all and he has trained in many, Judo, Hapkido, Karate, Boxing, Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo and Krav Maga, just to name a few. Not to big note himself too much but he has competed in many club, regional, state and national tournaments. Currently holding a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo (currently training for his 4th Dan) as well as a Krav Maga Alliance certified Black Belt instructor.
Enough of the big noting, at the end of the day he personally loves training and keeping fit but gets most enjoyment out of helping others learn and achieve new skills and seeing them develop mentally and physically.
